SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- The National Weather Service has issued a fire weather watch through Saturday morning because of a chance of dry lightning in Napa, Solano and Sonoma counties.
Temperatures in parts of the North Bay was expected to reach 90 degrees Friday and afternoon thunderstorms were anticipated, according to weather service meteorologist Dan Gudgel.
The fire weather watch is expected to remain in effect until 6 a.m. Saturday, according to Gudgel.
Dry lightning has sparked at least 1,000 wildfires in California in the past month that collectively have burned at least 265,000 acres, according to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The governor Friday requested federal help in fighting the fires in Northern California.
