Two Longtime KCBS Broadcasters Inducted Into the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame.
Lyons Mozley
Former KCBS Anchor and News Director Don Mozley and the late KCBS Traffic Anchor Ron Lyons were inducted into the Hall of Fame during a special ceremony on Wednesday, December 12th.
Ron Lyons passed away on August 3rd after a battle with cancer. Ron's natural talent as a broadcaster made him a star in all formats, from music to talk to news.
At KCBS, Ron helped thousands of listeners negotiate their commute every morning. He kept them smiling on both the good and bad traffic days. A stall on the Bay Bridge might have "traffic backed up to Omaha." A particular route might be "slower than your first marriage."
Don Mozley worked in radio for sixty two years and was news director at KCBS for fifteen. In those years he covered hundreds of major stories both local and national. He tells us that one of the most memorable was being THE closest human being to the first atomic bomb test at Bikini Atoll, but as he said "lots of radiation, but I'm still here."
Congratulations.
